It is quite all right to love words and long sentences. We are being taught to get used to editing out whole thought processes and amplifying only those snippets that buzz, offend, thrill. Then we wonder about the shallowness of discourse.
Secondly, we are being forced into discourses that are not only shallow but also one-dimensional. Though it seems to me that we have just spend a most horrific (and extremely interesting!) year (2017), not much sense of it can be made if we keep jumping up and down in glee (some) and disgust (most) and repeating slogans and cut-phrases. To add to that, there is a distinct smell of cold sweat in the air... "Angst essen Seelen auf", as they say in Germany, fear eats up our souls.
Thirdly, because of this Angst, and because we are now, at the same time, all heroes trained in right-speak, we are constantly self-editing our thoughts, to make sure we are not judged or out-loved by all the other cool dudes out there, even if most of them are only on Facebook.
I have finally decided to start a blog with many postings of mostly long sentences. I wish to get in-depth, erratic, uncontrolled, thoughtful, many-sided, tiring, offensive and many more things that would surely make my life more complicated. But then, my life already is complicated, and my thoughts are all over the place. Maybe writing about some of these things will help me figure out a few things. As can be seen from the "TOPICS', I am anticipating a fun and chaotic ride!
Also, I want to get out of Facebook. Over the years, though, FB has become one of my most powerful amplification tools when it comes to sharing information about the projects I am involved in: the 4tables Project and ShopArt ArtShop, among others. But to use FB Pages, I also need a personal account, and I had initially started using it pretty enthusiastically as a personal therapeutic platform, spitting out two-liners randomly at 'friends', the list of whom kept growing and now comprises of village house wives, school kids, old (real) friends, some good (online) friends, government officials, business competitors, haters, fans, random visitors to the cafe, et al. Now it is hardly possible to say anything at all, and thinking up sentences that can cover the spectrum has become impossible. So I will be reducing my presence on FB, and hope to take some of you over to this site if you are interested in the authentic me.
There is, btw, a setting on this site: 'does your blog have adult content?'. I can set this to "yes" or "no", and I have decided to keep it on 'no' because I don't want to scare anyone off who would like to peep in. But be warned, this site is most definitely not for kids, unless they are really really smart!
So, what will be in this blog? I am as excited as you are to find out!!!
